Learn how to benefit from all the advantages of a New York State commercial driver’s license. This class offers students the opportunity to enhance their Commercial Driver’s License by giving them a chance to add up to 5 endorsements. The class begins with a 2 day lecture on Hazmat, Tanker, Metal Coil, School Bus, and Passenger Bus endorsements. Adding any or all of these endorsements will only benefit and enhance your career as a CDL driver. The course continues with 10 hours of behind the wheel training, 9 hours of safety training, including Blindside backing and serpentine maneuvers, and 2 hours of road tests. Students are responsible for all DMV fees, must be over the age of 21, and must have no felony convictions on their record.

Richland College offers the National Traffic Safety Institute driving safety program. Our school and teachers are licensed by the Texas Department of Public Safety, and approved by the Texas Education Association and the State Board of Insurance. Commercial Drivers License Essentials (Certificate)

The program objective is to provide students with essential knowledge and practical skills necessary to be qualified as an entry-level, supervised over-the-road or in-town driver of tractor-trailers, heavy duty trucks, dump trucks, and medium-sized delivery trucks. The CDL2150 is a program designed to provide tractor-trailer driving fundamentals to students who have minimal or no truck driving experience. Our Class B CDL Training course is offered year-round on a first-come, first-served basis. This training is designed to prepare Western Truck School graduates to become professional entry-level commercial truck (Class B) drivers. The Class B Commercial Driver&,#146,s Course is a 40-hour program that you can take during the day, the evenings or even weekends!

The instructor to student ratio for our Class B program is one to one. This normally all-field training course consists of driving in training areas that include combinations of highway, city, and heavy traffic areas with a strong emphasis on defensive driving. After completion of the course, students are taken to the Department of Motor Vehicles for the Class B Commercial Driver&,#146,s License skills and driving tests.

Class A CDL (Certificate)

Our Class A TRACTOR/TRAILER OPERATOR PROGRAM is designed for entry level driver preparation of the California CDL test and successful employment through an intensive four to eight-week program. Field and classroom training provide a combined total of 160 hours. Class A CDL training includes DOT Safety Rules and Regulations, State regulations, and proficiency development in the skills required to obtain employment. OTR Truck Driver (Certificate)

The Over The Road (OTR) truck driver training class trains adults in the safe operation of tractor-trailer combinations and prepares them for jobs as truck drivers. Upon completion of this 160-hour course, graduates will have the skills necessary to obtain employment in the trucking industry and a Certificate of Completion.
